RAISE AWARENESS AK

"Spread LOVE, don't HATE, never FORGET, to APPRECIATE." -Adina & K. Emeline

K. Emeline and Adina started a youtube channel recently with the idea of bringing awareness to their generation, starting with the homeless in Skid Row. Skid Row is a 5 block area in Los Angeles, CA with a range between 3,000-6,000 homeless people. As you can see in the video above, it's a crazy place. Many people don't know about Skid Row or are unaware there are places like this that exist.

The idea came about because in 2015 there was a lot of monumental things going on in the world and K felt like she should be doing something to influence others besides her music/live performances. She felt like everyone reposts issues on Facebook, talks or complains about things going on in this world but not many people take action or at least TRY to do even the littlest thing. She plans on eventually starting a legit non-profit organization with Adina to continue to raise awareness and spread love on a national spectrum.

Follow our journey! We would love some support, ideas, or help with our upcoming episodes!

Dante Brooks, Aquile, Nat-z, K. Emeline

Made You Smile Movement is an organization (started by Dante Brooks) that teamed up with the Oceanside Unified School District to visit schools and influence them to go out and make someone smile. Oceanside suffered from multiple suicides under the age of 18 in 2014-2015, there's a lot happening behind the scenes in the city (where K. Emeline was raised). We understand that we need to start with our youth to see change. Since it began, MYSM has visited almost every school in Oceanside, now reaching 15,000 students.

"Growing up in Oceanside you're exposed to a lot of different things at a young age. Fights, drugs, alcohol, abuse, prostitution, gang violence, the list goes on. Oceanside has a lot of prideful 'gangsters,' so they call themselves. I remember in highschool there was a lockdown (at Oceanside Highschool) because there was a threat that there was going to be a riot/drive by between 2 rival gangs at the time- DURING school. It didn't happen obviously, but I can't imagine what goes on now.

I personally lost a lot of friends because of all that stupidity and am passionate about influencing kids in my own city to follow a different path so they don't have to go through what I did. I started going down the wrong path and now I refuse to look back. It's easy to fall into what's around you because that's all you see and know. If I can perform in front of these kids and at least show them that I made it and didn't choose that life, plus inspire them to do a good deed to make someone else smile...I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing." -K. Emeline
